My name is Luke Barnes, and I have the privilege of serving as the pastor at Morro Bay Presbyterian Church. It has been quite a journey to get to this point, but Jesus has been with me every step of the way.

I was raised on the East Coast by an amazing family, but the Gospel of grace was not yet known to us. I came to know Jesus through Young Life. Thank God for people who intentionally seek out the lost!

I graduated from the College of William & Mary, where I did my very best to run from God’s calling on my life. Yet, the Holy Spirit patiently pursued me and graciously redirected me onto His path for my life. In 2010, I moved to Pasadena to attend Fuller Theological Seminary. I received my M.Div. in June 2013, married my wife, Lalia, a week later, and then moved to Florida to begin full-time vocational ministry.

God eventually brought us back to California when we had our first son, Silas. We spent five wonderful years serving at Carmel Presbyterian Church, and during that time we welcomed Judah into the Barnes clan as well.

I have been at Morro Bay Presbyterian Church since 2021, and our family counts it as one of God’s gracious provisions in our lives. We love it here! The people of our church and community are exceptional, the area is beautiful, and our children are thriving. We love being part of a small town and a small church where people truly know one another and are known by one another.

Depending on the season of life, I enjoy soccer, surfing, and golf. These days, I especially enjoy watching Silas and Judah shine in soccer and basketball. Lalia serves as the healthcare provider at Cuesta College, and she is a beautiful model of childlike faith, wisdom, and kindness. I am blessed beyond measure!

Please feel free to reach out to me. I would love the opportunity to get to know you and hear your story now that you know a little bit about mine.
